Muscat, the capital city of Oman is also the seat of government and largest city in the Governorate of Muscat. Muscat Municipality is the real starting point and the first nucleus for the establishment of the Municipal councils in the various Governorates of the Sultanate. According to sources, the first Municipal council dates back to 1939!

The municipality owns a large number of parks and gardens in and around the city, which are primarily meant for the leisure of the citizens and tourists from across the world.
